Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and the pain thus affecting movement & mobility. Myotherapists utilize a range of treatment techniques to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). They also employ various soft tissue manipulation techniques, together with other modalities such as: trigger point therapy, dry needling, deep tissue massage, hot and cold therapies, passive/active muscle stretching and corrective or rehabilitative exercises. A Myotherapist aims to identify the cause of one’s pain to ensure quick, effective and long lasting results.

Rehabilitative Treatment of Musculoskeletal Conditions

Myotherapy takes the traditional manual treatment to the next level by using evidence based assessment and treatment tools to determine the cause of your pain or dysfunction. We aim to treat the cause of your pain and or dysfunction which will inturn treat your symptoms.

A Myothearpist can use a range of treatment tools such as trigger point therapy, myofascial dry needling, joint mobilizations, myofascial cupping, TENS machines, postural assessment and correction, corrective exercises (stretch and strength), sports and KT-Taping, pain education and diet and nutritional advice.

Your initial appointment will consist mainly of a comprehensive assessment and a unique plan to help best treat your complaints. This will usually take 15-20 minutes at the start of your treatment.

As there will be an assessment and possible exercise therapy it is recommended you wear comfortable non- restrictive clothing to your appointment such as active wear as restrictive clothing could result in false assessment findings hindering treatment results.

A Myotherapist can help to identify the cause of your complaints and treat the cause rather then just treating your symptoms. I have a special interest in chronic conditions, sports related conditions and getting people back to their best, but this doesn’t stop me from seeing an array of people.

I will work with your goals and what you want out of your treatment. If this means you just want a tension release, or some time away just for you, no problem I can help with that. If you want something a little more comprehensive or some more information on why you keep getting the same injuries or the reason behind your lower back pain or headaches that you have had for years, I have the tools to go that next step and help you to find out the real reason behind the issue.

With today’s busy lifestyle it is important to take time out to look after your own health and well being. Many people work stressful jobs that take a toll on their bodies. How can you be expected to perform your job to the best of your ability if you are in physical pain, which we all know can be debilitating and distracting.

I will tailor the treatment to suit you; whether you just want a simple tension release or something more comprehensive to find out why you keep getting reoccurring problems like Back pain or headaches. I can take the next step to find the reasons behind these issues and create a treatment plan to help improve what your issues and quality of life.

Musculoskeletal Therapy (MST) offers my clients a one-on-one personalised and caring approach to prevention, correction, rehabilitation and treatment of musculoskeletal pain and conditions. I look at the muscles, joints and nerves combined to be able to get the most clear picture of what the condition is and the best treatment approach.

I developed an interest in treating headaches, migraines and neck pain, which as a student studying became a very real issue for me. Through the years I’ve found several techniques with treatment and rehab which have proven effective. I want to keep expanding my knowledge and hope to one day specialise in paediatrics and congenital musculoskeletal disorders.
